Frequently asked questions
Answers here describe how Pelusium haul jobs work on-chain. Always confirm what your wallet shows before you sign.
Does a partner listing (e.g. Trinary) move cargo for me?
No. A partner Cargo Well ask is discovery only—it shows price, pickup SSU, and seller on the Pelusium board. Cargo stays in the seller’s SSU until someone completes a haul job: create (buyer/shipper) → courier accept → seller approve pickup → execute pickup → execute deliver.
Partner apps use the Builder API to publish asks. They do not get a special pickup shortcut. See Shop & Cargo Well and Shipping.
Does a bid auto-create a haul?
No. A standing bid with a dest SSU is discovery. When it crosses an ask, Pelusium shows Prefill haul and can notify you on My orders — you still sign create_haul_job. A builder app can only auto-draft if you already created a live create-haul intent; the matcher does not spend SUI on its own. After the Open job is listed, a courier still signs Accept. See Shop & Cargo Well and Shipping.
What is “approve haul pickup” and who does it?
The pickup SSU owner (usually the seller) must approve each haul before a courier can execute pickup. This is an anti-raid rule: couriers cannot withdraw from your storage without your explicit on-chain approval for that job.
You authorize Pelusium on the SSU once; you approve pickup per job. Setup: SSU & Pelusium setup.
Can the seller approve before a courier accepts?
Yes. On-chain, approve pickup is allowed while the job is open or accepted. Execute pickup still requires both a courier accept and pickup approved.
If the courier already picked up, can the buyer and seller “cancel” and does the courier still get paid?
Short answer: After pickup, there is no on-chain mutual cancel like there is before pickup. The courier is only paid from the freight escrow when delivery completes on time. If things do not finish that way, the freight side generally goes back to the shipper (who locked the escrow), after any protocol fee—not to the courier.
A bit more detail:
- Mutual cancel (shipper and courier agreeing to unwind) only works while the job is still accepted but not picked up yet. Once the courier runs pickup, the job is in transit on-chain and that cancel path is not available.
- After pickup, the main outcomes are: deliver (on time → courier gets the freight payout; late → courier gets no freight payout, remainder after fee goes to the shipper), or overdue refund after the delivery deadline passes with no delivery (freight escrow refunded to the shipper after the fee—not to the courier).
- Saying “buyer and seller agree to cancel” does not by itself change escrow: the shipper is who created the job and locked the freight leg; unwinding is governed by delivery, late delivery, and overdue refund rules, not a separate “everyone shook hands” button after pickup.
- Cargo is already out of the pickup storage unit on-chain after pickup—anything beyond the contract is coordination in-game or between players.

What is the difference between collateralized haul and exact sealed-bag freight?
Collateralized haul (the default path today) pays a courier to deliver matching type and quantity from stock at the pickup SSU. It is live on Stillness testnet and does not need special world-contract re-parenting.
Exact sealed-bag freight moves one specific item object. Pelusium may pause that path while EVE Frontier ships cross-SSU inventory support—the in-app banner says whether it is open.
How does cargo insurance work?
You pay a premium in SUI for a policy on a freight job. If the haul fails under the policy rules, you can claim up to the insured cargo value from a shared pool funded by LPs. If the haul delivers, the premium is earned by that pool instead. Destruction claims need an oracle-signed witness; undelivered claims lean on on-chain job state.

How does speculation work—and do I need reputation to bet?
Speculation is an optional side bet on a freight job: you stake SUI For (on-time delivery) or Against (late / overdue fail). When the job settles on-chain, the winning side shares the pool after a small rake. You do not need a social reputation score to participate—settlement follows the job outcome and the stakes already locked.
It is separate from trusting a courier with cargo. For the full walkthrough (lifecycle, pie-chart examples, rake, claims), see Speculation pools.
Where does the speculation rake go if the job fails?
Pelusium takes 17.5% of the gross pool as rake. When Against wins (late delivery or overdue fail), that rake goes entirely to the protocol treasury—courier and shipper do not receive a share. When For wins (on-time), rake splits 40% treasury / 30% courier / 30% shipper.

Does the route planner create or change a freight job?
No. The route planner is a planning tool. It can help you pick systems, compare route assumptions, and copy an ordered path, but it does not lock escrow or change job state.
Use it before you create or accept a job, then confirm the real pickup SSU, drop-off SSU, cargo, payment, and timing in Shipping. More detail: Route planner.
What are cargo mass and manual jump radius for?
Cargo mass (kg) is used by the route planner when calculating ship jump performance. A heavier load can change what route is realistic.
Manual jump radius (LY) is an override when you want to test a specific jump range. It only applies when Use manual jump radius is checked; otherwise the planner uses the selected ship and fuel.
